​Biography

Sam Peralta is a conceptual artist merging arts/poetry with a human/machine symbology. A physicist, Peralta’s early art experiments with Markov pattern generators evolved into a unique take on classic neoplasticism in acrylics reminiscent of Piet Mondrian.

The first of this new conceptual series,  AUGMENTED VISIONS, debuted at the Context Art Miami art fair in Dec 2023, during Art Basel Miami week.
 

Peralta is well-recognized in realist art circles as a collector and curator. Profiled in Fine Art Connoisseur, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, PoetsArtists and elsewhere, Peralta has curated exhibits with 33 Contemporary Gallery, artNXTlevel, Artsy.net, Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, the Zhou B Art Center, and is a judge for the Art Renewal Center. He and his wife are named sponsors of the Yayoi Kusama permanent exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Peralta’s work in poetry and film garnered a Palanca Memorial Award for Literature, accolades from the UK Poetry Society and the BBC, the League of Canadian Poets, ARC Poem of the Year, two Golden Globe® nominations, an Emmy® Award, and more.

Peralta’s most significant project is the Lunar Codex, archiving works from over 30,000 artists from 162 countries and 67 Indigenous nations, on the Moon, alongside NASA's Artemis program. Some of his works, including his JAB-encoded “Moonstone” and a prophetic poetry  collaboration with a GPT-2 AI, are part of these archives.

Peralta’s cultural and technological activities culminate in his current oeuvre. His “Augmented Vision” series embeds his poetry in the composition, to be decoded by the viewer’s smartphone camera, creating interactive modern art that, like a Mondrian, still has the ability to startle.
